The GCRC is here to be your one stop shop for clinical research. The mission of the GCRC is to advance patient oriented research by providing specialized expertise and highest quality care in a professional and user-friendly environment. To use the GCRC, you need to discuss our resources with the people in the sections shown below. Talking to them will help you make the best use of the resources. You may even find resources that you didn't know were there. Second, fill out the IRB application and the GCRC Addendum to the IRB Application. Third, and essential for continued funding of the GCRC, Cite our Grant in your publications -- Supported in part by a grant (RR00046) from the General Clinical Research Centers program of the Division of Research Resources, National Institutes of Health."

Administration - For the clinical investigator, administration provides your initial entry into the GCRC and will assist you in the protocol submission process and determine what research costs the GCRC may cover.

Nursing - The GCRC has both inpatient and outpatient staff and facilities to assist you in your research.

Nutrition - Nutrition services include nutritional analysis, nutritional assessments, anthropomorphic measurements, creating research diets and inpatient meals, and much more.

Informatics - Assists investigators with the whole realm of data management from basic consulting, to computer support and training, to maintaing the database, web, and file servers.

Biostatistics - Biostatics services include expertise and review of statistical plans for protocols. Consulting early in the planning of your study may not only make your study more effective, but may also help to prevent any possible delays in final approval.

Office of Research Subject Advocacy - Assists investigators in the development of safety monitoring plans, in the evaluation of adverse events, and in education.

Training / Professional Development - Assists junior investigators in developing research projects and working through the research process.

Bioanalytical Core Laboratory - General areas of expertise include ELISA based assays (esp. cytokines) and HPLC metabolite assays (esp. catecholamines).

Body Composition Lab - Procedures include DXA scans, pQCT scans, and Indirect Caloremetry.

Hispanic Cultural Liaison - Hispanic Outreach: In an effort to improve the participation of
Hispanics in clinical research, the Director of Hispanic Outreach assists principal investigators in identifying culturally and linguistically appropriate services, resources and materials.
